담자균류는 이른바 버섯으로 알려진 생물을 포함하는 대표적 균사체로, 전체 균류의 약 30% 정도를 차지한다. 몸은 다수의 균사로 이루어져 있고, 눈에 보이는 지실체(버섯)를 형성한다. 균사는 가느다란 실과 같은 형태로 대부분의 시간을 낙엽 밑, 땅속에서 생장하여 균사체를 형성하고, 생장의 한계에 다다랐을 때 짧은 시간 동안 버섯을 피운다. 그리고 이 버섯을 통해 포자를 퍼트리고 계속해서 생식을 이어간다.
대부분의 시간을 보이지 않는 땅속에서 생장하는 담자균류의 생장적인 특징을 반영한 제 3 전시관 〈담자균류의 정원〉은 오프라인 전시 참여자의 디지털 작품을 선보이며, 균사체로 이루어진 길을 따라 곳곳에 피어난 다양한 버섯과 함께 배치된 디지털 작품을 관람할 수 있다.

Basidiomycota refers to the life forms known as mushrooms that make up 80% of all fungus species. Their body is made of hyphae and produces a fruiting body (mushroom), which is visible to the human eye. Hyphae, which have a filamentous structure, grow mostly underground, under dead leaves, and quickly produce mycelia and mushrooms when fully grown. Then, they spread spores via mushrooms to continue their reproduction.
Basidiomycota Garden reflects Basidiomycota's developmental nature of spending most of their life underground and unseen. It presents digital works by the artists participating in the physical gallery exhibition. The audience can find these works accompanied by various mushrooms growing along the path made of mycelium.
