Welcome to my Virtual Space. My name is Dane Palmieri, and I am an American-born visual artist living and working between Buenos Aires, Argentina and the United States. My practice is centered around the emotional mining of sentiment and memory. By sifting through the layers of lived life I carefully interpret and bring to surface newly created physical realities, taking shape in the form of sculptures, installations, and assemblages.

The virtual space I’ve created for Open Studios entitled "Only In Stillness” takes you on a tour of an organizational methodology I began developing during my residency at GlogauAIR. Loosely based on the work of the early 20th-century art historian and cultural theorist Aby Warburg, it employs various organizational techniques inspired by Warburg to dissect, categorize, interpret, and link together parts of my archive of personal and emotionally salient material. The goal being to formulate a process to connect these seemingly arbitrary and mundane bits of information into a larger narrative, laying the groundwork for future sculptural works.

Within the space you will find a series of five rooms each representing a category I've defined as essential for organizing this diverse material: Affect, Sense, Narrative, Preservation, and Symbolic.Upon entering each room, you'll receive audio descriptions explaining these categories in detail. Together, these rooms form the conceptual structure that will support the subsequent advancement and development of the series.
