Bug World

This virtual garden explores emotional intimacies through the symbolic meaning we culturally (and I personally) give to plants and flowers. We often use what we see in nature to reflect and communicate our internal emotions, values, or ideals. Flowers, trees, compositional arrangements, and methods of care-taking can be representational of a single idea to informing a larger life philosophy. Gardens, in particular, are a canvas that can take on a grand physical representation of our internal complexities, serving as a manifestation of our personal journeys and experiences.

While gardens allow us to also fabricate a sense of control over nature, the virtual garden allows me to take this one step farther. I can create an immersive and interactive environment that invites viewers to explore and contemplate the different stages of love in an other-worldly setting. By using a range of plants and flowers, each with their own unique symbolic meaning, I hope this project serves as both a personal expression of my own pursuits in love and a connection to those who also daydream about the human experience of love. But ultimately, I hope this project reminds us of the beauty and complexity of our emotional lives.
