Some people can get the answers they are seeking in reality, but some cannot. I think, what I have always been confused about, is the existence of phantasy. I was trapped by the original desires of a person. I was locked firmly in those recurring, trapped, hazy dreams. I have explored, in many languages, in many forms, images, to reinterpret dreams… over the years, what it is that I am looking for in the end? Those, the things I had not been able to accomplish, the regrets I had not achieved, the things I had sought with all my heart, the things I had thought I had long forgotten, were transformed into tiny figurative images that appeared in my dreams. Those distant, repetitive images tossed and turned in my dreams. I finally realised that they were all just REPRESENTATIONS of the absence in my mind and that my dreams were constantly orbiting around them. The aim of psychoanalytic treatment as practised by Lacan is to allow the analysed person to identify the location of his or her desires in the symbolic dimension. I think I was constantly exploring the patterns of desire with the assistance of the unconscious (the dream as a symbol of the unconscious). It was as if I was standing in the center of this cave, surrounded by blackness. I was exploring my own state of consciousness, gradually lighting up to illuminate my surroundings by knowledge. Then seeing where in the surroundings, where is the most essential being, where is desire, where is the empty space. Have a good journey in my cave! Best wishes, Ye
I can't control my thoughts, fascination, and yearning for volcanoes. Volcanoes for me mean heat, extremely red lava, glowing superheated liquid, the fear of being vaporised at the touch and the thrill of the sensation. That distant, extremely high state of sublime fascinates me uncontrollably. I have always felt a mind and body connection with volcanoes because of their remoteness and physical unreachability. It is a symbol, a distant symbol, a container of desire. Volcanoes mean death or relate to the origin of species, and the body of the earth. It also means disaster. One of the most fascinating parts for me was the moment of the eruption of the lava when all the energy is unpredictably released and ejected. Imagine being my own body, uncontrollably detached and destroyed.
Phantasy The repressed desire in the dream world does not refer to a couple of specific things or figurative desires but carries what Lacan calls the phantasy (objet petit a). The phantasy is a complex notion of Lacan, essentially a residual, proposed within the dialectic of desire. To be specific, the subject is always unable to find what it really wants in the symbolic realm and has to change the object of its desire constantly. These objects of desire in reality are simply agents and substitutes for the phantasy, not what the subject really wants. It is because the subject does not know what it desires, that it is again and again engaged in the hunt for the object of its desire. The end of this hunt is the phantasy (objet petit a), which is not possible to be approached. The phantasy does not refer to a particular thing on its own, but to the things that have a communal effect on the subject. When the phantasy is into the dream, those repressed desires appear in the dream in order to seek compensation from the subject. In fact, however, this repressed desire does not refer to a specific thing or object, but rather the subject operates around a certain absence, thus creating the dream scene. This absence is unfilled and irreducible, thus creating a desire that floats endlessly. This desire does not therefore need to be achieved. The phantasy is created in the "pursuit of desire". If this action disappears, the phantasy no longer exists. Thus, the phantasy is revealed in the dream state.
