Waste is defined as unwanted and unusable objects. The litter, the garbage, the objects live in our environment. We are trained to ignore them. The old chips from 2008, my dad’s old PhD paperwork, the couch on Wilshire, and everything in the garage.
In our fast paced world, we rarely think about the waste we consume and produce. It seems to just disappear. But it doesn't. It stays on our planet forever. detritus is a dimension solely for the objects that have no use to us.
Train yourself to recognize, appreciate, and notice “trash.” Think about the history of these objects - who has touched them, why did they use them, what did they use them for.

I created these point models through photogrammetry. Objects resided in California mainly in San Jose and Los Angeles. After captured through my camera, I used Metashape to create point models and converted them to GLB.
My process included careful observation of objects considered waste - forgotten and insignificant.
I noticed around electric cabinets on the street they plant bamboo around them to cover the "non-aesthetic". This is behind my dentist office in Cupertino. All the electricity and wires within this cabinet that powers its surroundings are shut off from our view, hidden. April 26th, 2021, 12:23 PM
On the bottom drawer of our pantry, flour, chips, and cookies just sit there. This is where we put all the flour bags to make roti. We try to keep them airtight but that is impossible. Flour bugs eat away, plastic, water to create the flour, everything just sits there. April 15th, 2021, 3:23 PM
This couch sat on the road in Koreatown. About 10:15 PM on W. 8th street the yellow street light kept it lit. It had worn down brown leather and its other half was gone. Or was it part of a bus or car? Who had sat on it before? How did it get here? May 6th, 2021, 10:15 PM
This walkway connects the front of the house to the backyard. There is an old chair, a child bike, a shed, a mirror, the outside of a fireplace, a stick that Onyx picks up, a fence, a door, and a window to the kitchen with more plants peaking through to taste the sun. A walkway for unused objects, things we don’t throw away. Things with emotional attachment. It serves as a place for junk to live, never used at all. April 15th, 2021, 3:23 PM
Old clothes, my parents’ PhD paperwork, cleaning supplies, suitcases, old cabinets, not even used, more junk, games not played, old couch, old everything, empty boxes to store nothing, boxes, shoes, groceries? fridge to store more food. Too much stuff never decluttered, they own the space. May 6th, 2021, 10:15 PM
My lamp sculpture sits in my room covered with plastic covering and trash-bags to protect from the ants and dust. The sun always comes into this room as the blinds block nothing. April 2nd, 2021, 10:35 AM
