The internet and technology are ever-evolving but what happens when people fail to evolve with it? I explore the concept of race within the sphere of technology and uncover biases within the code we so often use. When I think about creations such as AI and new technology it is often white-centered excluding black and brown people from its designs. AI is not neutral, objective, or devoid of values and has its ghosts within the code. When we think about creations such as the Metaverse which in theory should be a place for community and utopian ideals, what happens when we begin to classify avatars based on their race, sex, gender, class, etc. When do the lines begin to blur into something history has already warned us about countless times before. And also think about who will have access to these spaces?

AN AVATAR. A CARICATURE OF OURSELVES
SOMETHING WE CAN NOT ESCAPE EVEN IN A VIRTUAL SPACE
PRECEPTION OF OURSELVES BUT PROJECTIONS OF WHOM
FOR WE CAN NOT SIMPLY ALTER OUR OWN CODE
WE ARE NOT MONOLITHIC ONE CODE DOES NOT FIT ALL...
