I'm sitting in front of a rather unhappy MacBook Pro at the moment. Its little beach ball has been spinning viciously in my face for the last 10 minutes straight, and the internal fan sounds as if it's looking for a union to join. This has been my Sunday morning. I start experimenting. I get so far into investigating how sound can be translated and then the MacBook throws a hissy fit.

I'm currently working on a collaboration with Portrait XO (by the time you read this, the project would have been wrapped up #NDA... I do hope you're pleased with how it turned out!). I'm currently working with some stems she sent over. Originally I was going to do a mix of some sort (I might still) but I got curious about language, translations and meaning... and I wanted to dig deeper into how sound can physically manifest. Also, how one translation of a thing, can lead to another and another and another... until the original message has been fully eroded. A little like Chinese Whispers. 

I remember my first play of Portrait XO's yet to be released album, I was on a train headed for Germany to see one of my audiovisual pieces projected onto the outside of Germany's second-largest abandoned building, alongside the works of 28 other artists... all in a bid to reclaim public space. I wondered how my work would translate and be received by the Nuremberg audience... and I also wondered what, if anything, was the AI trying to convey via PXO's voice? And knowing that if there was indeed a message trying to be conveyed, it would most likely be beyond out comprehension. 

Language is funny like that, even though, most of the time we are speaking the same language, we might as well be talking to a deaf person using braille as a visual aid... what we say, what we mean and what others hear, rarely tend to be the same... don't even get me started on those who intentionally misinform either via omission or the twisting of language... turning communication into information warfare.

Anyways... the beach ball has sod off for now, that means one thing... its time to find a new way to annoy the MacBook.

Nomeee from the present visits a future self

The topic behind this series was to explore how we can "grow" 3d models in computational enviroment. So those 3d models resemble hand , skull, and, brain, but they do not look exactly like them. Rather as they were grown they look more organic etc

The title of this album is named after the process that was born out of the experiments that happened during co-writing with raw audio AI generated audio of my voice.  In collaboration with Dadabots, 1 hour of my recorded singing vocals were trained for 2 1/2 days that generated 10 hours of new audio.  Expecting the unexpected, I went sound hunting for lyrics, melodies, and interesting sounds.
