言語 (Say Words) is a single player game which allows the player to explore the brain of a polyglot. This game features several stories, or thoughts, meant to represent the languages this made-up individual is able to speak. The average person is able to speak 1-2 languages, which leaves for many missed opportunities to listen to interesting stories and encounter someone new.
“Obhiaha” is a 3d model of an Esan/Edo bride adorned with traditional coral beads, which represent power, royalty, beauty and wealth and also are believed to hold special powers. With this work, Abieyuwa is interested in decolonizing the cultural institutions that house these ornate objects, tribal wear that showcases African beauty, redistributing them using new forms of digital fabrication. This sculpture not only represents the artist’s culture but is also a symbol for a transitional period in her life as she graduates and continues to further pursue a career as an artist.
Multi-channel installation based on Fear. Personal footage, Video This installation is a reflection of my fears, depicted in a code/collage. I sought to express these fears in this way so it would be a way of releasing them.

VR Installation I began this project out of the frustration of people not wanting to try on a VR headset in an exhibition setting. Originally, the plant would have a real life sculptural counterpart that would encourage viewers to interact with it inside the VR space. However due to constraints following the circumstances that have unfolded over this year, it evolved into what you see now: an alien plant inside a virtual landscape.
Encoded Mindspace Dreamz” is a multi-channel audio-reactive series based on the relationship between music theory and color theory. These 5 self-produced songs are played in different keys which changes the notes that are being played. Using Munsell’s color notation and Newton’s color wheel for this project, what you see is an interpretation of the music using specific colors to create motion-graphics that react to the music. The colors you see are the root notes of every chord being played in the audio.

This exhibition, made in collaboration with New Art. City, showcases the work of seniors pursuing a BFA in New Media Art at the University of North Texas. Due to the COVID pandemic, students spent their entire semester online - spread out geographically but connected virtually. This exhibition brings them together, in the same space, for the first time. Their works range from culturally significant 3D renderings of Nigerian matrimonial adornments, to poetic generative video artworks based on the relationship between sound and color, and a single player game based on the idea of a polyglot. Note: This gallery has two floors. Please use the E key to move up, and the C key to move down. Special thanks to New Art. City Founder, Don Hanson, and Professor Liss LaFleur.
This is the potted plant that viewers get to water and interact with inside the VR environment I created through TouchDesigner. Watch the alien fauna wiggle and grow!
In My Mind (2020) is a digital dialectical landscape, a land of dichotomies (interior v. exterior, empowerment v. helplessness, abundance v. scarcity. material v. immaterial, ego v. knowledge),a place outside of time and space to meditate upon our current state of being. Inspired heavily by surrealism, I relied on my subconscious for imagery, and uncanny objects to create a sense of unease and spark curiosity through absurdity. I am interested in 3D design for its potential to transport the viewers consciousness to a fabricated state. With In My Mind (2020), I am particularly interested in the acquisition of knowledge in the modern age that is mediated through our senses, technology, and preconceived notions.

Through the setting of a scarce, barren, analog void, a manifestation of self emerges and reflects on the scattered digital archive accumulated over the course of its life. While the ego continues to evolve, these fragments of recorded time fill in the lapses of ones memory, ecstatic, and traumatic. Ultimately, it is a visual and sonic investigation into the dichotomy of the self embalmed in a digital purgatory versus the analog decay as a study in the mortality of identity and consciousness.
This piece is meant to visualize a psychedelic experience and how music can cause the "Entity(the Self)" to travel through all different dimensional planes, leading to a transformation/shedding of skin to evolve to a different perception of the Self. The evolution in size, movement, and color/texture (of the Entity, the environment, and the interactions) are made to show how different parts of the control that one has changes as they go travel deeper into the psyche. Just like traveling the world is a journey, so is the transversal of the psychedelic micro-cosms' that have been depicted in the piece.

"Technicolor Night" is a combination of 2D and 3D animation that places a virtual band within a venue engulfed in brightly colored geometric shapes. Viewers are able to leisurely observe a “live” musical performance without needing to leave the comfort of their homes. Developed through collaborative efforts with artist and musician Esai Balderas (@nebuladult), this piece explores the potential for cyber performances and digital theatre in an increasingly online world.
