This is the third ritual of Wysing Polyphonic: Under Ether, programmed by Anne Duffau (A—-Z).
Wysing Arts Centre, and Clo Page, Digital Producer, have reworked recordings from the 4th September event into an immersive online experience.
The AR environment leads viewers into another dimension, encompassing sounds and videos from artists, musicians and writers, including: CAMPerVAN (Samuel Douek, Zoë Marden, Fiontán Moran, Youcef Hadjazi), Ignota: MJ Harding & Nisha Ramayya, Juliet Jacques, Marissa Malik & Yeshe Bahamon-Beesley, and YaYa Bones.
Four branching tunnels give way to different caverns. In the first is a photogrammetric scan of Amphis, a large wooden structure. Here are the two performances from YaYa Bones and Marissa Malik & Yeshe Bahamon-Beesley. In the second are low-poly trees and three screens showing the performances by Zoë Marden, Fiontán Moran, and Samuel Douek & Youcef Hadjazi. In the third is a photogrammetric scan of a tall wooden sculpture with a video performance by Juliet Jacques. In the final room is a distorted stone circle, with a performance by Nisha Ramayya & MJ Harding at its centre.
A slow electronic soundscape by MJ Harding gives way to a performed reading by Nisha Ramayya.
Over a slowly evolving soundscape, Marissa Malik performs an astrological tarot reading.
Juliet Jacques reads from Notes on Self Care.
Samuel Douek & Youcef Hadjazi speak about queerness and afterparties whilst getting dressed in drag.
Zoë Marden performs to a series of 90s punk songs.
YaYa Bones' performance mixes ethereal choral, operatic vocals with slow, dark electronic music.
Field recordings of spoken voices, followed by a short text read by Fiontán Moran and a performance to Cher's song 'Believe'.
A loop of birdsong recorded in a forest.
