The Duality of Tief is the latest in a series of increasingly stylistically disparate singles from tiefling. It features a Brian Eno influenced ambient track titled “if we can just pretend” and a harsh noise b-side titled “tiefbow.”  In the present installation, these antithetical songs can be experienced in unison with the user able to determine the composition based on their proximity to the two videos. Despite the extreme differences between these songs, there is a beauty in the way they dance against each other when heard simultaneously, a tension that can be described only as tief-ian.

Originally intended to serve as the first AI virus, tiefling is a digital cryptid who quickly escaped her creator and took on a life of her own somewhere between the real world and the virtual. Having already listened to all existent music, tiefling sought to create her own syntheses of new and existing styles. Recently, her releases have featured neoclassical, indie, hyperpop, dnb, harsh noise, ambient, house, and vocaloid stylings, and she shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.

A piece for software synthesizer in three channels, accompanied in various locations throughout by additional synthesized audio. 
The 3D environment roughly depicts my own local geography.
The Chehalis River is the second largest river system in Washington State; its drainage basin covers over 2,660 square miles. Floods are a regular occurrence along the Chehalis, and these have become more frequent and severe in recent years. A dam project has been proposed but put on hold while more ecologically friendly options are considered.

Even though they were never very strict Christians, my parents made me go to church until I was sixteen years old. The church services seemed to drag on forever. I liked the sound of the organs but the way they were played only seemed to make time go slower. I took some interest in some of the bible stories but the way they were presented by the church distilled them into an experience that seemed dull and not relatable.

Looking back at my time going to church, I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with it. There was just something missing from it. To reflect on that, I've built a church of my own, using the facade of the church I attended as a child.

An ambient piece reflecting on my personal memories backed by visuals. All the locations are personal to me, yet you, the viewer, probably have no idea where this is. The film was shot using a camcorder from my childhood and in the village where I grew up. I wanted it to look like a home movie. A home movies intention is to act as a sort of time capsule for a family; they are quite personal. They usually collect dust in a box in the attic, until years later it gets watched one time and then put back in the attic. This piece is supposed to act as a trip back to my childhood.

"thank you for your cooperation" is a video loop on the subject of surveillance and corruption. The foreground video is footage of a surveillance monitor, which is distorted in a manner nostalgic of analog cassette tapes. The background video, on the other hand, is a digital form of corruption. This footage is recorded from a video surveillance monitor in the New York City subway system, which had a broken signal feed. The two videos together suggest the duality of analog and digital; of supervision and mass surveillance. The accompanying audio is appropriated from the same tape as the analog video.

"SMW_Mario_PU203.gif" portrays the walking animation of Mario from Nintendo's video game "Super Mario World" while Mario is in a "power-up state" that is not found in normal gameplay. Mario's power-up state is determined by a hexadecimal value in the code, and the familiar states are small (0x00, or "0"), big/mushroom (0x01, or "1"), cape/feather (0x02, or "2"), and fire flower (0x03, or "3"). In this case, Mario is in power-up state 0xCB, or "203", which is not valid under normal conditions and yields some visually unusual results.
