I love listening to stories. Ever since I was a little kid, whether it be a book read by my mother at bedtime or a funny cartoon, I would always stop and listen. But when an episode of a cartoon ends, I find myself wondering what could happen next to the characters, especially if it ended on a cliffhanger. Soon, I was making up my own episodes for the cartoons I watched. Before I knew it, I was creating my own characters. It wasn’t long before I discovered that not only do I like listening to stories, but I also love to create my own stories. I use these stories to express my endless imagination, as well as emotions that I have trouble finding words to describe. But, even though I love creating stories, I’m not good at telling them. The act of talking takes a lot of my energy. Instead of talking, I make art to tell stories. With art, specifically digital media art, I can tell my stories with numerous methods to express my imagination and complicated feelings. The reason why I create art and why I make up stories is to communicate and interact with other people. With my art and stories, I invite people to be storytellers too. Sometimes, people’s interpretations of my artworks may differ from my own. Because of this, I may hear brand-new stories, and as I mentioned at the beginning, I love listening to stories.
What are you doing on my desk? How did you get so small? I'm not sure, but feel free to take a look around! The friends that I made (literally!) don't mind the company.
Mr. Sketchyman, a being that smells strongly of pencil shavings, wanders around a suburban street one night when memories of his past come to haunt him....
A tall entity that smells strongly of pencil shavings. He tends to wander around suburban areas at night. The way he wanders around makes it seems like he's looking for something. Or perhaps he's looking for someone? Don't worry, he's mostly harmless.
The filming process wasn't easy because I live in a fairly busy neighborhood. Even if it was really dark outside, many people would use the street I live on as a shortcut. Regardless, I personally like the challenge of filming at night. All the characters you see in the final product were hand-drawn in my sketchbook.
A day in life of someone who has experienced too much.
They could scream, yell, and cry all they want. At the end of the day, they are simply another face in the crowd. Heck, they may as well be faceless since nobody sees them.
The Faceless was one of those "unintended" characters. They're based on the persona I tend to take on whenever I'm filming. Because I tend to make some pretty somber videos with this persona, it makes sense for this character to be somber too. The Faceless always feel like they don't belong in this world. It's like they less human and more of a glitchy program.
A kitsune wanders around their forest home until trouble began to arise...
This kitsune may have very few words to say, but their curiosity and loyalty are endless. After accidentally stumbling into our world, they have come to call it home. They would make a friend or two if only their powers, combined with their impulsiveness, would stop scaring away potential friends...
Everything was drawn in Clip Studio Paint. It took a long time to draw each scene. During the process of making this story, I feel like the kitsune has become more mindful than when I first created them. Finally, in case you're wondering, the kitsune DOES have a name. But that's a story for another day. :)
Momoko, the last axolotl, is frolicking outside their cave when they encounter someone big...
Momoko is the last axolotl in a world where nothing was done about climate change and many lakes are filled with trash. How they survived for so long is a miracle. Regardless, they continue to be happy-go-lucky as ever. Still, it would be nice to have a friend to collect trinkets and do arts and crafts with.
The biggest change that happened between the concept and the final product was Tougan. He was originally going to be a giant koi fish. But koi fish aren't exactly intimidating. So, I went with a Morelet's crocodile instead. Tougan is now more intimidating than we was when he was a fish, as long as you ignore the fact that he doesn't actually have any teeth. This was the story that took the longest.
