Departing from Remembrance, Repentance reveals the harsh reality of a dream trampled by anthropogenic dystopia. The tree cries, isolated and alone in an urban wasteland. The works by Charlotte Guan, Samuel Han, Diana Jiang, Sarah Kim, Hailing Liu, Adrienne Norsworthy, and Jacqueline Scibona share her unsettling sentiment.
This work mimics the process of scrolling on phone and watching videos. The intense and emissive colors in this work allude to the strong emotional and visual climax triggered by the process. Many videos make cats dance with music. Many are about kissing cats. Cats are liked by many and become prevailing in cyberspace. Cats become symbols of sensational enjoyment and visual entertainment. An interaction with a virtual cat could easily trigger an actual sensational response. The sensational response then results in our physical interaction with the screen, expressing a form of digital love---which is a complexity that could be easily summarized into a heart emoji. "Busy Cat Day" also discusses how 'playing' with animals in a virtual space relates to people's desire to manipulate animals' behaviors.
The walking animation montage with a cityscape as background expresses the idea of individual isolation that lay in a metropolis city. With different walking styles and gestures by unidentical human models to make the project and viewers solely focus on the feeling of isolation as an individual.

In the near future, everything that is not considered rational, including nature, has been eliminated. One can only feel the nostalgic nature through a bought pill, but it is an illusion after all.
A collaborative project with Michele Selvaggi. This audio-visual project explores the inevitable sonic changes that have occurred in various human-dominated soundscapes, previously governed by human specific noises, have lost most of their “social” character as less and less human interaction is possible within them. The usual vibrant atmospheres we were familiar with have now been replaced with ruins of isolation, stagnancy, and tales of loneliness. In this project, Michele and I gathered field recording material from Ontario, Canada and visual samples from Chicago, US separately. We played on the concept of “distance” and embraced the consequences/ artistic restrictions in place as a result of the pandemic. Soundscapes ranging from those found in nature to those found in high activity city regions were taken and cleaned up to remove any intrusive sounds. Over the course of the work, ambiences derived from natural environments slowly progress into noises sourced from more industrial regions. Mirroring the progressions of sound, the landscape samples sourced from Chicago are cut and reshaped from graphics to stereoscopic ‘objects’. By using a strategy of disconnecting sourced moving images and animating them, the visual artist explores the idea about how environment as the main subject could reflect our living status. The efforts on creating spatial and isolated visuals intend for looks at the ‘time’ and the ‘space’ themselves.

I have been looking for a way to express my gratitude The substation that i have been staring at since i was six driving to school mysterious plot of land, intimidating rows of pipes connected to large banks, So much to look at Moments of repetition in machinery and pipeline create patterns Metal beams glittering under the morning sun The wires that drip from them That power my city The sleek towers made of steel beams Simple geometric shapes Scattered across the mountains like decorations Blinking red lights that guide airplanes Dispersed across where the san jacinto and santa rosa ranges meet and run parallel to each other San gorgonio pass They breathe calmly I have a perfect view from the side road by our complex Trying to pinpoint what details gave the effect of being stranded in a vast atmosphere Orange condos that blend in with the earth Stick out of the sand like little space huts Untangling images of each substation Learning the names of the equipment Debunking the mystery
