Statement:

Tropical Meridional Fiction is about a fiction of Brazilian identity. Through the individual perspectives of the artists, themes that concern its complexities are strained, across territorial factors, individual subjective experiences and digital responses to questions that arise from these conditions. Working with these specific and diverse realities we seek to attempt to search the poetic possibilities inside the impossibilities of this national fiction.

Working with these specific and diverse realities we seek to attempt to search the poetic possibilities inside the impossibilities of this national fiction. The proposal is created around the following question: From your subjective experience as a person and an artist, how does this topic of discussion about a fiction of a Brazilian identity affect you? The conception of the exhibition arises from Henrique Fagundes's inquiries through the construction of the work Tropical Meridional Fiction. Feeling that he would speak about the matter only from the perspective of his subjectivity, he invited 4 artists that comes from divergent parts of Brazil - Canoas, metropolitan region of Porto Alegre, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, and Belém, in the state of Pará - to think about this issue.
